Congratulations on taking the first step towards a successful first year at the University of Arizona! As a Bear Down Camp camper (Gatito) you have the advantage of familiarizing yourself with the campus and Tucson community. In addition, you will have the opportunity to create a strong network of peers that many campers carry with them through their freshman year and beyond.

This decision was a tough one and not made lightly. After monitoring the current state of COVID-19 within the State of Arizona and the Tucson Community for the past two months, we determined it is not in our best interest to host Bear Down Camp in- person. With our participants traveling from multiple cities, we want to do the best we can to minimize the risks to our students, families, outside community, and the staff and team that support the program.

We are still committed to providing you with an exceptional onboarding experience and official welcome to the University of Arizona. Virtual camp will be an excellent opportunity to connect with other new and incoming students and get to know current students. Students will learn UA traditions, campus resources, and information needed for the ultimate Wildcat Experience! We will have educational sessions, speakers, bonding activities, a welcome package, and more. Virtual camp will be a great way to begin to build community and relationships for when we all see each other in the fall.

Virtual Camp will be Monday, August 17th - Wednesday, August 19th. Our team is currently working to develop a schedule and will update our website and email participants as soon as this information is available. We realize that an online experience can be taxing on energy and engagement. As a result, we will be shortening the camp experience and focusing on critical areas of Wildcat success and building connections!

Virtual camp will be $25. 

If you HAVE already registered for Bear Down Camp, please complete the google form HERE to update your registration. You will receive a refund for the remaining amount you paid minus the virtual camp fee. For instance, if you paid $150 for camp you will receive a refund amount of $125. 

If you HAVE NOT registered for camp but would like to register for the virtual experience, please visit our website to register.

If you like to opt-out of attending the virtual camp, please log back into your registration portal and select “Request Refund” or complete the google form HERE and select "No." By August 10th, a refund will be applied automatically to your account. Refunds will take 7-10 business days to process to your account.

All campers will receive an email confirming their spot in the program in addition to any missing or incorrect information that we may need, but was not included upon initial registration. If you have registered for camp and have not received a confirmation email within 7 days, contact the administrative team immediately. Once registration has closed, weekly messages will go out to both campers and parents with information regarding camp.

Gatos (“cats”) are Bear Down Camp counselors and Gatitos (“little cats”) are Bear Down Camp campers. Simple as that!

Early move-in is no longer required for our virtual program. If you would still wish to move in early please contact Housing directly to register for early move-in.  Please visit https://housing.arizona.edu/move-in for more up to date information.

If you have reached the “Thank you for registering” page and paid by credit card, your registration is complete! You should receive an email forwarding your registration information to you from Executive Director Alexandria Horton. If you chose to pay by check, please mail it to ASUA as soon as possible. An e-mail confirmation will be sent within 7 days upon receipt.
