About Us
Bear Down Camp is a four-day transitional experience designed to foster connection and build community among incoming freshmen and first-year students at the University of Arizona. Held annually the week before fall classes begin, the camp provides an opportunity for new students to form meaningful relationships and establish a strong support system as they transition to university life.
Guided by student counselors, participants engage in activities that encourage teamwork, friendship, and a sense of belonging. Through interactive sessions, students gain insight into the University of Arizona’s resources, including involvement opportunities, educational and health services, and on-campus support networks. They also explore the rich history and traditions of the university, creating a foundation of pride and connection to their new community.
Bear Down Camp is more than just a camp —it’s where first-year students build their first network of peers, mentors, and friends, setting the tone for a successful and fulfilling college journey.
Please email beardowncamp@arizona.edu with any questions.
