Welcome Students of Arizona Alternative Breaks
Thanks for considering spending a break serving! zonABreaks sends groups of students across the country over winter, spring, and summer breaks to serve and give back to the community. This program provides an amazing opportunity to travel, serve, and experience another culture. One site leader said, “being a part of this program provided me with so much more in return than I could give volunteering. I’ve grown so much and I’m thankful for all of the memories and friends I’ve gained”!

Alternative Breaks Involvement
Participant
Participants attend pre-trip meetings and complete a service project in Tucson prior to traveling to serve on the alternative break. Applications open 8 weeks prior to the alternative break.
Site Leaders
Site leaders are responsible for planning the trip, educating participants, and group dynamics. After attending the required course training, site leaders lead a group of Arizona students on the service trips. Applications are open once during the fall and spring semester. Site leaders will be selected in April for the following academic year.
zonABreaks Board
Members on the board work closely with staff on implementing training, advising, and special events. It is highly recommended that all students serving on the board have been a site leader in the past but is not a requirement to be considered. This is a paid position and very rewarding experience. Applications are open during the spring semester.
Trip Advisor
Advisors are responsible for assisting the trip leaders before and during the trip, managing finances, and providing guidance about all aspects of the trip. Applications are open in the spring and summer semester.
