When I came to UA in 2020, I had no idea how much I would enjoy school – even in a small dorm room while attending classes via Zoom. This year – with fewer restrictions – has only reinforced how important these years are and how much we should leverage all the University offers to students who want to learn and grow. As I continue to grow at the UA, I believe staying active and involved in extracurricular activities are important to maintaining a full college experience. Throughout my time as a Wildcat, I have tackled challenges and faced adversity, but I have always been able to lean on involvement within the UArizona community.
I am a firm believer that when a student pays their college tuition, they are not only paying for classes, but they are paying for everything our campus community offers. We are a campus with an incredibly diverse population – racial, ethnic and political diversity, among others – which presents a unique opportunity for students to experience and understand what life is like away from home and in a new community. It is a network that offers something for every interest under the moon and prepares us for the next phase of our lives. Students should leverage the opportunity to become immersed in it.
I hope to encourage my fellow students to utilize (and enjoy) this unique community the same way I have. I readily admit there is much I can learn about student government but considering the range of activities I am involved with and connections I have made, I believe I represent a diverse cross-section of the student body and would be honored to serve as an At-Large Senator.
