Amy Gaudet

College of Social and Behavioral Sciences Senator
Amy-Gaudet

Hey Wildcats! My name is Amy Gaudet, I’m a Junior in the college of Social and Behavioral Sciences, and I would be honored to be your next Senator. My hope is that if elected, I can increase accessibility, encourage diversity and inclusion, and be a voice for all students at our university.

Communication and Transparency: This will hopefully be my first year serving on ASUA, in large part because when I first started at the U of A, I didn’t really know what it was, or what it did. That’s why as your Senator I want to make it one of my top priorities to make sure that ASUA is a tool and a resource for all students at the university. I was inspired to run earlier this year when I was trying to get funding for one of the organizations I’m a part of on campus, and I didn’t hear back from ASUA until months after the deadline had passed. This issue isn’t unique to me, it affected dozens of different organizations on campus this year. Which is why I want to set a hard deadline for board appointments, and create accountability measures to ensure that requests and concerns from students are heard and dealt with in a timely manner.

Accessibility: The Covid-19 pandemic has exposed the flaws in our universities current accessibility measures. As the university has moved to a hybrid in person modality, students who have to join classes from home have suffered as a result, whether it is because of a lack of access to the necessary technology in their own home, inadequate technology in the classroom, or a lack of training on the part of professors. As your senator for the College of Social and Behavioral sciences, I want to work with you to address these issues as they continue to arise, and create a safe and healthy environment for all of our students.
Diversity and Inclusion: One of the things that make the Wildcat experience so unique is that we are a big tent school, in the sense that we give students from a huge variety of backgrounds the opportunity to gain an education. I want to make sure all students in our college have a platform to share their experiences, and as your Senator I will do everything I can to let those experiences guide me, so that I can be a voice for every student in Social and Behavioral Sciences, and ensure that our program continues to be a diverse and welcoming experience for all students.
